Company Description

James River Coal Co. through its subsidiaries is engaged in mining, processing and selling metallurgical, bituminous, steam and industrial-grade coal in Eastern Kentucky, Southern West Virginia and Southern Indiana. Its operations include Bell County Coal, Bledsoe, Blue Diamond, Hampden Coal, Leeco, McCoy Elkhorn and Triad mining. The company was founded in 1988 and is headquartered in Richmond, VA.
