Company Description

LipoScience, Inc. operates as an vitro diagnostic company, which provides advanced patient care for the patients who are suffering from cardiovascular, metabolic and other related diseases. It develops proprietary tests based on Nuclear Magnetic Resonance, an information-rich technology that produces a digital representation of the molecules present in a simple blood sample. The NMR LipoProfile test measures the number of low density lipoprotein particles (LDL-P) in a blood sample and provides physicians and their patients with actionable information to manage the risk of heart disease. The company was founded by James D. Otvos on June 14, 1994 and is headquartered in Raleigh, NC.
