It operates through five business segments: Regulated Electric Utility Operations, Regulated Gas Utility Operations, Nonregulated Energy Operations, Transmission Investments and Others. The Regulated Electric Utility Operations segment generates, purchases and distributes electricity through MGE. The Regulated Gas Utility Operations segment is engaged in the purchase and distribution of natural gas MGE. The Non-regulated Energy Operations segment constructs, owns, and leases new electric generating capacity that will assist MGE through the company's wholly owned subsidiaries MGE Power Elm Road and MGE Power West Campus. The Transmission Investments segment is engaged in the business of providing electric transmission services primarily in Wisconsin. The Other segment includes investments in companies and property which relate to the regulated operations, financing the regulated operations, or providing construction services to the other subsidiaries through its wholly owned subsidiaries MGE Construct, MAGAEL and CWDC, and Corporate functions.
