Its products are used by industries in a variety of applications, which include research and development, simulation and modeling, product design, prototype and validation, production testing, industrial control and field, factory services and repair. The company offers services to the industries, which include automotive, consumer electronics, commercial aerospace, computers and electronics, continuous process manufacturing, education, government, defense, medical research, pharmaceutical, power and energy, semiconductors, and telecommunications. The company was founded by Jeffrey L. Kodosky and James J. Truchard in May 1976 and is headquartered in Austin, TX.
