Owens Corning is a global producer of residential and commercial building materials, glass-fiber reinforcements and engineered materials for composite systems. Its products range from glass fiber used to reinforce composite materials for transportation, electronics, marine, infrastructure, wind-energy and other high-performance markets to insulation and roofing for residential, commercial and industrial applications. The company operates its business through two segments: Composites and Building Materials. The Composites segment includes Reinforcements and Downstream businesses. The Reinforcements business manufactures, fabricates and sells glass reinforcements in the form of fiber. The Downstream business manufactures and sells glass fiber products in the form of fabrics, mat, veil and other specialized products. The Building Materials segment includes Insulation and Roofing businesses. The Insulation business helps customers conserve energy, provide improved acoustical performance and offer convenience of installation and use, making them a preferred insulating product for new home construction and remodeling. The Roofing business primary products are laminate and strip asphalt roofing shingles. Other products include oxidized asphalt and roofing accessories. It sells shingles and roofing accessories primarily through home centers, lumberyards, retailers, distributors and contractors and sells other asphalt products internally to manufacturers of residential roofing products and externally to other roofing manufacturers. Owens Corning was founded on October 31, 1938 and is headquartered in Toledo, OH.
