PerkinElmer, Inc. provides technology services and solutions to the diagnostics, research, environmental and safety, industrial and laboratory services markets. The company operates through two reportable segments: Human Health and Environmental Health. The Human Health segment concentrates on developing diagnostics, tools and applications to help detect diseases earlier and more accurately and to accelerate the discovery and development of critical new therapies and it serves both the diagnostics and research markets. It offers additional products under various brand names, including AlphaLISA, AlphaScreen, AutoDELFIA, Envision, Evolution, Genoglyphix, JANUS, LANCE, LifeCycle, NEN, MultiPROBE, NTD Labs, Opera, Packard, ScanArray, Specimen Gate, ViaCord, VICTOR, Wizard and XRD amorphous silicon FPDs. The Environmental Health segment provides technologies and applications to facilitate the creation of safer food and consumer products, more secure surroundings and efficient energy resources. It serves the environmental, industrial and laboratory services markets. It also offers a variety of solutions that detect the presence of potentially dangerous materials, including lead and phthalates, in toys and other consumer products to help ensure their safety for use or consumption. It also offers additional products under various brand names, including Chromera, EcoAnalytix, HyperDSC, LAMBDA, LABWORKS, OneSource, and Spectrum. The industrial market provides analytical instrumentation and digital x-ray detectors for the industrial market which includes the semiconductor, chemical, petrochemical, lubricant, construction, office equipment and quality assurance industries. The laboratory service markets OneSource service business strategy is aligned with customer's needs to consolidate laboratory services and improve efficiencies within their labs. The company was founded by Richard Scott Perkin and Charles W. Elmer in 1937 and is headquartered in Waltham, MA.
