FreightCar America, Inc. operates as a holding company. It operates its business through its direct and indirect subsidiaries. The company manufactures railroad freight cars; supplies railcar parts, leases freight cars and provides railcar maintenance, repairs and management. It designs and builds coal cars, bulk commodity cars, flat cars, mill gondola cars, intermodal cars, coil steel cars and motor vehicle carriers. The company operates its business through two segments: Manufacturing and Services segment. The Manufacturing segment includes new railcar manufacturing, used railcar sales, railcar leasing and major railcar rebuilds. The Services segment includes general railcar repair and maintenance, inspections, parts sales and railcar fleet management services. FreightCar America was founded in 1901 and is headquartered in Chicago, IL.
