Rhino Resource Partners LP produces, processes and sells quality coal of various steam and metallurgical grades. The company markets its steam coal primarily to electric utility companies as fuel for their steam powered generators. It operates through five segments: Central Appalachia, Northern Appalachia, Eastern Met, Rhino Western and Illinois Basin. The Central Appalachia segment consists of mining complexes such as Tug River, Rob Fork and Deane. The Northern Appalachia segment consists of the Hopedale mining complex, the Sands Hill mining complex, the Leesville field and the Springdale field. The Eastern Met segment includes Rhino Eastern mining complex. The Rhino Western segment consists of McClane Canyon mine. Illinois Basin segment, which includes new underground mine, preparation plant and river loadout facility at Pennyrile mining complex located in western Kentucky, as well as its Taylorville field reserves located in central Illinois. Rhino Resource Partners was founded in January 11, 2006 and is headquartered in Lexington, KY.
