RTI Biologics, Inc. provides sterile biological implants for surgeries around the world. The company recovers and processes donated human musculoskeletal and other tissue, including bone, cartilage, tendon, ligament, fascia lata, pericardium, sclera and dermal tissue, and bovine animal tissue in producing allograft and xenograft implants utilizing proprietary BIOCLEANSE and TUTOPLAST sterilization processes, for distribution to hospitals and surgeons. It produces orthopedic and other surgical implants that repair and promote the natural healing of human bone and other human tissues, and improve surgical outcomes. The company's business lines are comprised of five categories: Sports Medicine, Spine, Surgical Specialties, Bone Graft Substitutes & General Orthopedic, and Dental. The Sports Medicine business category's implants and products include: BioCleanse Meniscus, Bone-Tendon-Bone Select, BioCleanse Peroneus Longus, Sterling Xenograft Wedge, osteochondral and Matrix HD. Its allografts are tendons for ligament reconstruction and meniscal allografts are for transplantation. The Spine business includes precision machined implants and bone paste utilized in spinal procedures. The Surgical Specialties business distributes implants for hernia, breast reconstruction, urology, ophthalmology, and ENT. The BGS and general orthopedic business includes: Allograft Paste, Milled Allograft and Xenograft, and Conventional Allografts. The Allograft Paste implants are composed of demineralized bone matrix, which are used in biologic gel carrier, in fracture treatment, bone and joint reconstruction and periodontal applications, such as ridge augmentation for dental implants. The Milled Allograft and Xenograft includes demineralized bone matrix, cortical cancellous chips and ground cancellous chips, used in total hip and knee replacements and for various injuries. The Conventional Allografts include a wide variety of allograft categories, including its intercalary grafts, such as frozen femoral heads which are used for cancer treatment procedures and hip and knee reconstruction. It also produces various types of fashioned bone, such as strips and shafts used for various orthopedic procedures. The Dental business provides various implants including cancellous and cortical bone and human and bovine membranes primarily for dental procedures related to augmenting ridge restoration. RTI Biologics was founded on February 27, 2008 and is headquartered in Alachua, FL.
