State Street Corp. provides financial products and services to institutional investors. The company operates its business through two segments: Institutional and Commercial Real Estate. The Institutional segment is composed of the following classes: investment funds, commercial and financial, purchased receivables and lease financing. The Commercial Real Estate segment is composed of the loans acquired in 2008 pursuant to indemnified repurchase agreements with an affiliate of Lehman as a result of the Lehman Brothers bankruptcy. It operates in two lines of businesses: Investment Servicing and Investment Management. The Investment Servicing business provides services for mutual funds and collective investment funds, corporate and public retirement plans, insurance companies, foundations, endowments and other investment pools. Its products include custody, product-and participant-level accounting, daily pricing and administration; master trust and master custody; record keeping; foreign exchange, brokerage and other trading services; securities finance; deposit and short-term investment facilities; loans and lease financing; investment manager and hedge fund manager operations outsourcing and performance, risk and compliance analytics to support institutional investors. The Investment Management business provides services for managing financial assets, including investment management and investment research services, for institutional investors. These services include passive and active U.S. and Non U.S. equity and fixed income strategies as well as other related services such as securities finance. The company was founded in 1969 and is headquartered in Boston, MA.
