SunCoke Energy, Inc. engages in producing metallurgical coke in the Americas. Metallurgical coke is a principal raw material in the integrated steelmaking process. It owns and operates metallurgical cokemaking facilities in the United States and Brazil. The company operates its business into four segments: Jewell Coke, Other Domestic Coke, International Coke and Coal Mining. The Jewell Coke segment consists of cokemaking operations located in Vansant, Virginia. The Other Domestic Coke segment consists of Indiana Harbor, Haverhill and Gateway cokemaking and heat recovery operations located in East Chicago, Indiana, Franklin Furnace, Ohio and Granite City, Illinois, respectively. The International Coke segment consists of operations in Vitória, Brazil, where the company operates a cokemaking facility for a Brazilian subsidiary of ArcelorMittal. The Coal Mining segment consists of metallurgical coal mining activities conducted in Virginia and West Virginia. The company's business routes back to 1960. SunCoke was founded in December 2010 and is headquartered in Lisle, IL.
