The company, through its subsidiaries, offers affordable healthcare products and programs, including Medicare Advantage plans and traditional health insurance. In addition, it offers a variety of traditional insurance products, including whole life insurance, first diagnosis cancer insurance, hospital indemnity insurance, and other specialty insurance products. The company operates through the following business segments: Medicare Advantage, Traditional Insurance, MSO and Medicaid. The Medicare Advantage segment reflects the company's Medicare Advantage HMO, PPO and PFFS businesses. The Traditional Insurance segment consists of Medicare supplement and other senior health products, specialty health insurance products, primarily fixed benefit accident and sickness insurance and senior life insurance business, as well as long-term care, disability, major medical, universal life and fixed annuities. The MSO segment supports company's physician partnerships in the development of value-based healthcare models, such as ACOs, with a variety of capabilities and resources including technology, analytics, clinical care coordination, regulatory compliance and program administration. This segment includes CHS subsidiary and affiliated ACOs that were formerly included in Corporate & Other segment. The Medicaid segment includes the operations of Total Care Medicaid health plan. Universal American was founded on December 22, 2010 and is headquartered in White Plains, NY.
