Wisconsin Energy Corp. provides electric generation and natural gas distribution services. The company operates its business through two operating segments: Utility Energy and Non-Utility Energy. The Utility Energy segment consists of Wisconsin Electric and Wisconsin Gas. Wisconsin Electric serves electric customers in Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, gas customers in Wisconsin and steam customers in metropolitan Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Wisconsin Gas serves gas customers in Wisconsin. The Non-Utility Energy segment consists primarily of W.E. Power LLC, which owns and leases to Wisconsin Electric generation plants constructed as part of it PTF initiative. The company's business roots back to 1896, when it started the business under the name The Milwaukee Electric Railway & Light Co. Wisconsin Energy was founded in 1987 and is headquartered in Milwaukee, WI.
