The company's principal batteries sold in the transportation markets are represented by the following brands: Exide, Exide Extreme, Exide NASCAR Select, Centra, DETA, Orbital, Fulmen, and Tudor, as well as other brands under various private labels. It operates through four segments: Transportation Americas; Transportation Europe and ROW; Industrial Energy Americas; and Industrial Energy Europe and ROW. The Transportation Americas segment engages in the sale of aftermarket transportation products through various distribution channels, including mass merchandisers, auto parts outlets, wholesale distributors and battery specialists. The Transportation Europe and ROW segment engages in the sale of OEM batteries to the light vehicle, light commercial vehicle and commercial vehicle industries. The Industrial Energy Americas segment engages in the distribution of motive power products and services through multiple channels. The Industrial Energy Europe and ROW segment engages in the distribution of motive power products and services in Europe through in-house sales and service organizations and utilizes distributors and agents for the export of products from Europe to ROW countries. The company was founded by W. W. Gibbs in 1888 and is headquartered in Milton, GA.
