Navy
Federal gets
high marks

Navy
Federal ranked No. 4 in the first-ever Harris Poll survey measuring
the reputations of financial services companies across America and
was the only credit union to make this Harris Poll list. The highest
ranking for any commercial bank, of the top 40 institutions rated,
was No. 20.
This
Harris Poll survey measured emotional appeal, products and services,
vision and leadership, financial performance, workplace environment,
social responsibility and financial services performance. The results
of the Financial Services Reputation Quotient (FSRQ) survey were
released by the
American Banker newspaper.
Nominees
for election

A
flier listing the nominees for the 2002 election is included with
your October statement. Valid nominations by petition received by
December 3, 2001, will be included on the mail ballot sent along
with January 2002 statements to all members eligible to vote.
Space
will be provided for inclusion of write-in candidates. However,
if no nominations by petition are received, a mail ballot election
will not be necessary. Nominations from the floor at the Annual
Meeting will not be entertained unless unforeseen circumstances,
prior to the election, result in an insufficient number of candidates
for the vacancies. Election results will be
announced at the Annual Meeting on Monday, March 25, 2002.
Deadline
for Education IRA contributions

This
year's deadline to open and make Education IRA contributions of
up to $500 per child is December 31, 2001.
The
Economic Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2001 provides
expanded benefits for Education IRAs. Starting in January of 2002,
the allowable annual contribution per child will increase from $500
to $2,000. Also starting in January, Education IRA savings can be
used for primary and secondary school expenses, in addition to college
expenses.
