Sprint Corp. and RadioShack's parent company enter distribution deal

NEW YORK (CNNfn) -- Sprint Corp. will begin selling its products and services at Tandy Corp.'s RadioShack stores nationwide later this year, the two companies announced Wednesday.
The agreement, announced in New York, calls for creation of a "store within a store" for Sprint-branded products and communications services at the 6,800 RadioShack stores and participating dealers.
RadioShack stores in 15 cities are to take part by the end of this year, selling long distance, local and wireless phone service, Internet access, paging, prepaid phone cards and the new personal communications services being developed by Kansas City-based Sprint's Sprint Spectrum division.
RadioShack will also be the exclusive retailer of Sprint-branded "residential" telephones, and Sprint products are to be featured in RadioShack catalogs. An advertising campaign for the co-branding and joint marketing program is to begin in the third quarter of 1997.
Sprint Spectrum is a partnership of Sprint, Tele-Communications Inc. (TCI), Cox Communications and Comcast.
