Priddy to head holding company, Jordan becomes airline's chairman
|
NEW YORK (CNNfn) -ValuJet Inc., which restructured itself last month into a holding company, announced several executive changes Monday, including the appointment of industry veteran Joseph Corr as president and chief executive of its airline unit.
The company said ValuJet Airlines Chairman Robert L. Priddy handed over the reigns of the discount carrier to concentrate on running its newly formed holding company.
Lewis H. Jordan will take over Priddy's position, remaining president and chief operating officer of the holding company that was formed last month.
Previously, Priddy held the CEO's title, and Jordan was the airline's president.
As chief founder of the discount airline and its largest single shareholder, Priddy has been a behind-the-scenes figure at the company. The better-known Jordan has been the public voice, especially following the fatal ValuJet crash in May and the 15-week grounding that followed.
Also as part of Valujet's reshuffling, Joseph Corr was named the airline's president at chief executive. Corr previously served as chairman, president, chief executive and director of Continental Airlines and as president, vice chairman and director of Trans World Airlines.
"These organizational changes add significant strength to an already strong airline team and facilitate development of other holding company interests," Priddy said in a statement.
