TNT to air Winter Games

Network acquires exclusive cable rights to 1998 Winter Olympics

NEW YORK (CNNfn) -- Turner Network Television has acquired the exclusive cable rights from CBS Sports to the 1998 Olympic Games in Nagano, Japan.
The agreement gives TNT the rights to air more than 50 hours of coverage beginning Feb. 7. One hour of events will be shown on the weekends and up to five hours during weekdays.
TNT also air portions of the 1992 and 1994 Winter Games in conjunction with CBS.
"Giving the Olympics their greatest exposure is a continuing goal for us and we're pleased that CBS has made this possible. We're looking forward to airing our third Winter Olympics on TNT," said Turner Sports President Harvey Schiller.
CBS Sports' coverage will begin Friday, Feb. 6 with a live Opening Ceremony broadcast and conclude Sunday, Feb. 22 with the Closing Ceremony.
