NEW YORK (CNNfn) - The following is a list of the top ten U.S. corporate mergers:
- RJR Nabisco's merger with Kohlberg, Kravis Roberts & Co., completed in 1989, was valued at $25 billion.
- Bell Atlantic Corp. announced its merger with Nynex Corp. in April 1996, valued at $22.7 billion.
- Walt Disney Co. purchased Capital Cities/ABC in 1996 with stock and cash totaling $19 billion.
- SBC Communications announced its intent to buy Pacific Telesis Group for $16.7 billion in stock in April 1996.
- WorldCom Inc. agrees to acquire MFS Communications for $14.4 billion in August 1996.
- First Interstate Bancorp was bought out by Wells Fargo & Co. in 1996 for $14.2 billion.
- Warner Communications Inc. merged with Time Inc. in 1990 for $14.11 billion.
- Kraft Inc. teamed up with Philip Morris Inc. for $13.44 billion in 1988.
- Gulf Corp. joined with Standard Oil Co. of California in a $13.3 billion deal in 1984.
- Boeing agrees to purchase McDonnell Douglas for $13.3 billion in a deal announced Dec. 15, 1996.
