V.P. is the latest to leave as company announces more reorganization

NEW YORK (CNNfn) - The exodus at Apple Computer Co. continues as Executive Vice President Marco Landi resigned from the troubled computer maker late Tuesday.
Landi was named chief operating officer last May by Apple Chairman Gilbert Amelio, but was given a lesser position in charge of the company's worldwide sales and support earlier this month as part of a management reshuffling.
Robin Abrams, senior vice president of the company's Apple Americas sales division will assume Landi's duties on an acting basis.
The Cupertino, Calif.-based company also announced that it was reorganizing its sales force into a flatter, more centralized structure that would report directly to Amelio.
The news of Landi's resignation follows last week's departure of Heidi Roizen, who had been brought in to increase software development ties.
Apple has been struggling and announced last month that it had pushed back its target date for returning to profitability from March until September.
In the quarter ended December, Apple reported a $120 million loss because of weak Macintosh sales.
The company recently announced its second plan to restructuring plan, which will involve layoffs. Apple co-founders Steven P. Jobs and Stephen Wozniak have also been brought back onboard as consultants.
Apple's stock rose by 9 percent Tuesday, up 1-9/16 to close at 17-7/8.
