Company says most year 2000 problems are with its older products
|
NEW YORK (CNNfn) - Microsoft Corp. said Thursday that two dozen of its products have problems with the much-talked-about "year 2000" bug, although most of the major problems are associated with older products.
The software giant has also launched a new resource center on its website to help customers solve the year 2000 problem on other products.
Microsoft said the Windows 95 and Windows NT operating systems, along with the Office 95 and Office 97 suites of software applications, have "minor issues" related to the glitch.
On some versions of Windows 95, for instance, you can set the date to be a leap year with the keyboard, but not with the mouse.
Microsoft said its upcoming Windows 98 operating system is fully compliant with the year 2000.
The company said the most serious problems are associated with such older products as Word 5.0 for DOS, which was released in 1989 before the company developed Windows.
Microsoft's year 2000 site, launched on Wednesday, includes a product guide that outlines the year 2000 compliance status of specific Microsoft products.
