Egg is on Frito-Lay's face, if not on Grandma's Chocolate Chip label

NEW YORK (CNNfn) - Frito-Lay is voluntarily recalling 1.5 million packages of fudge chocolate chip cookies because the product labeling does not indicate that the sweet baked goods contained eggs.
All packages of Grandma's Homestyle Fudge Chocolate Chip Big Cookies with freshness dates from June 2 to August 11 are being pulled from the market. All other varieties of Grandma's cookies and all packages bearing other freshness dates are labeled correctly and are not involved in the recall.
The recall is voluntary on the part of Frito-Lay and is nationwide. No harmful reactions from the cookies have been reported.
According to Tommy Irwin, agriculture commissioner of Georgia, the first state to release the announcement, the cookies themselves are perfectly edible, but the omission of eggs on the label could be harmful to some consumers.
"It's not uncommon for some people to have allergic reactions to eggs," he said. "That's why it's important for those people to check the labels on the products they eat and for those labels to be accurate. We're grateful Frito-Lay is acting responsibly and recalling these cookies voluntarily."
Frito-Lay is the snack food unit of PepsiCo (PEP).
