Internet stock goes into overdrive after signing deal with eBay, others

NEW YORK (CNNfn) - Xoom.com Inc. watched its stock go into overdrive Friday after the Internet-based direct marketing company announced sponsorship agreements with eBay, GoTo.com and Buydirect.com.
After opening at 51, Xoom.com Inc. (XMCM) saw its stock jump 8 to 59 in late morning trading.
The San Francisco-based company had announced a deal with eBay (EBAY), the world's largest person-to-person online trade community, search engine GoTo.com, and Internet software retailer Buydirect.com.
eBay was up 11-11/16 at 237.
As part of the agreement, eBay receives premium placement throughout Xoom.com's Web properties and has the ability to promote targeted auctions to Xoom.com's members. GoTo.com becomes the exclusive search engine on the Xoom.com site, Xoom.com network and Xoom.com chat network.
Buydirect.com has a placement on Xoom.com's e-commerce navigation bar and becomes the official co-branded partner of Xoom.com's software store.
All three sponsors will receive placement within Xoom.com's direct email newsletter to its members and a banner rotation throughout Xoom.com's Web properties, which, according to a report from Media Metrix, had an unduplicated reach of 25.7 percent of uses across the Web in December.
