NEW YORK (CNNfn) - Veteran journalists Stuart Varney and Willow Bay were named co-anchors of CNN's Moneyline News Hour Tuesday, ending a three-week search to replace departed anchor Lou Dobbs.
Varney, a financial news anchor for various CNN business programs between 1980 and 1998, returns from a one-year sabbatical to split host duties for CNN's premier financial news program, which airs weekdays from 6:30-to-7:30 p.m. ET.
Bay, a former co-anchor of ABC News' Good Morning America/Sunday, currently serves as co-anchor of CNN & Fortune, the network's prime time newsmagazine covering the world of finance and money management. She was one of several anchors asked to host Moneyline on a interim basis following Dobbs' departure on June 8.
Varney and Bay will assume their duties beginning on July 19.
"With Willow and Stuart, we have an exceptional team in place that not only will allow for a greater range and variety of in-depth business reporting, but will further enhance Moneyline and its reputation as the leading source for financial news and information," said Steve Korn, vice chairman and chief operating officer of CNN News Group, in a written statement.
