Agreement will integrate companies' Internet phone networks
|
NEW YORK (CNNfn) - America Online communications portal ICQ and Net2Phone signed a four-year agreement to integrate their two Internet phone networks, the companies said Tuesday.
Under the deal, Net2Phone's Internet phone services, which allow voice calls to be made over the Internet, will be provided through ICQ's service.
ICQ currently has more than 38 million registered users making lower-cost international and domestic calls.
The companies didn't disclose terms of the deal but said initially the partnership will create an Internet telephone card allowing lower-cost calls via the Net. Later, they will expand services to allow greater phone-to-PC and PC-to-PC calls.
