Electronics firm will provide network products to China for cellular phones

NEW YORK (CNNfn) - Motorola Inc. received a $370 million contract Monday to provide digital cellular phone infrastructure products to China, the company announced.
Specifically, China Eastern Communications Co. Ltd. will use Motorola's global systems for mobile communications (GSM) equipment to develop cellular phone networks in about 10 Chinese provinces.
Motorola also will provide support services including training and design.
The contract is the fifth deal Motorola has struck since 1995 with Eastcom, China's largest mobile communications products manufacturer and supplier, and is also the largest such contract.
Motorola (MOT), based in Arlington Heights, Ill., is an electronics systems and services firm. Its stock was up 2-5/16 to 93-9/16 in early afternoon trading.
