Brightpoint, Novell rise on alliances, but the high-flying ride ends for Juno
|
NEW YORK (CNNfn) - Shares in a wireless communications distributor soared after signing a deal with Finland’s Nokia while a pact with Japan’s Toshiba Corp. lifted stock in a computer network provider.
Brightpoint Inc (CELL) rose 31 percent after saying it extended its agreement with Finland’s Nokia (NOK) to sell and distribute the Finish firm’s wireless phones in the United States.
Indianapolis-based Brightpoint jumped 3-37/64 to 15.
Novell Inc. (NOVL), a computer network provider, gained 18 percent after saying Toshiba Corp. will use its technology for storing frequently accessed Web pages.
Provo, Utah-based Novell climbed 4-15/16 to 32.
The gains finally let up for Juno Online Services (JWEB), which soared for the last three days after announcing free Internet service.
New York-based Juno fell 11-15/16, or 19 percent, to 49-5/16.
NPS Pharmaceuticals (NPSP) catapulted 38 percent after CIBC World Markets upgraded the drug maker to "strong buy” from "buy.”
Salt Lake City-based NPS Pharmaceuticals rose 2-1/8 to 7-3/4.
