NEW YORK (CNNfn) - Rumors across the Internet fueled interest in Healthcare Integrated Services Inc. and Focus Enhancements on Thursday, making them the two most-active stocks on Island ECN’s after-hours session.
Rumors of a possible takeover of Healthcare Integrated (HISS) grew as volume rose over 700,000 on Island. Officials from the company could not be reached for comment.
Healthcare Integrated rose 15/32 to 1 on Island.
Shares of video company Focus Enhancements (FCSE) were bolstered by the possibility that one of its products would be included in a new Intel product, but no concrete news was announced Thursday.
The stock jumped 2-1/2 to 8-7/16 on the Nasdaq, and moved up to 9 on Island and MarketXT.
Biopharmaceutical company Techniclone Corp. (TCLN) was up after it was given interim funding to make payments and continue scaled-back operations, but enthusiasm waned after hours. The stock fell 23/256 to 137/256 on Island.
Qualcomm Inc. (QCOM) did not stay down for long. After a phenomenal week, the stock retreated 12 to 647 on the Nasdaq stock exchange, but it finished up 13 on MarketXT’s after-hours session and 11 on Island.
