Shares of Echelon Corp., a maker of networking devices, rose 46 percent on news that the German LonUsers Organization recommended Echelon's operating system for a common network infrastructure used by its members.
Also, Arch Communications, a wireless messaging and mobile data provider, saw its shares move over 25 percent Monday on news of a deal with AOL.
