Rainbow Play Systems to recall about 7,000 play sets
|
NEW YORK (CNNfn) - Rainbow Play Systems Inc., is recalling about 7,000 play sets to replace swing chains. Defective chains may break while children are swinging and cause injury.
Brookings, S.D.-based Rainbow Play Systems has received seven reports of chains breaking. During inspections four defective chains were found.
Although no fatalities have been reported, a 3-year-old boy suffered a bruise to his head when he fell after using the play set.
The swing chains are used on all models of Rainbow Play Systems play set swings, and are covered in green or yellow vinyl.
Rainbow play sets are made with redwood, and feature more than 50 different models and custom designed sets.
Rainbow Play System stores nationwide sold the play sets with the defective chains from March 2000 through June 2000 for between $1,200 and $6,000.
Consumers should stop using the swings on these play sets immediately; if the chains are defective, they can be brought to the store when the play set was purchased in return in order to obtain a free replacement chain.
