Shares of software company add $2.51 to $9.51 in Nasdaq debut

NEW YORK (CNNfn) - The initial public offering of Omnicell Inc. surged nearly 36 percent in its first day of trade on the Nasdaq.
Shares for Omnicell hit a high of $9.72 before retreating and closing at $9.51, for a gain of $2.51.
Palo Alto, Calif.-based Omnicell (OMCL: up $2.51 to $9.51, Research, Estimates) sold 6 million shares at $7 each, at the low end of its $7-to-$9 price range, via lead underwriter U.S. Piper Jaffray.
Formerly known as Omnicell Technologies Inc., the company provides software and technology that manages and dispenses pharmaceuticals and medical supplies, for hospitals, nursing homes, and clinics.
Omnicell has installed more than 18,600 pharmacy and supply applications in more than 1,100 health-care facilities.
