Tips on what you need to know when looking for the right financial advisor.

NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - It's that time of the year when many investors take a good look at their personal finances and the professionals they hired to manage them. Are you one of those thinking about starting the new year with a new financial advisor?
Here are some suggestions to help you find the right advisor. For starters, ask for five references, three from current clients and two from professionals. And make sure you ask how they are paid and their financial background.
