Hooters bets on Las Vegas casino
Hotel-casino known for busty waitresses and Buffalo wings replaces the old San Remo near the strip.
NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) - Hooters restaurants is taking a gamble on the casino business. A franchisee of the sports bar restaurant chain, known for its busty waitresses and Buffalo chicken wings, officially opened its first Hooters Casino Hotel Friday just a block from the Las Vegas strip. 155 East Tropicana LLC, the company opening the Las Vegas franchise, replaced the former Hotel San Remo with the new Hooters-branded hotel that will feature 711 guest rooms, as well as a 24,000 square-foot casino floor and over 200 Hooters girls. "Hooters has 381 worldwide locations from Aruba to Venezuela and bringing the Hooters fun concept to the fun capital of the world seemed an obvious choice for us," Hooters Inc. CEO Neil Kiefer said in announcing the project last year. At the time, the renovation of the hotel to the Hooters brand was expected to cost $65.1 million. Hooters, the closely held chain based in Atlanta with franchised restaurants in 46 states, opened a Hooters-branded airline in 2003. _________________ Atlantic City hotel named in sex bias suit -- Click here. |
