NBC and Cosmopolitan are creating a show inspired by the life of the magazine's editor-in-chief, Joanna Coles.

NBC and Cosmopolitan are joining forces to develop a new scripted series based on the lives of the editors, executives and writers at the New York-based women's magazine.

The new show was inspired by the life of Cosmo editor-in-chief Joanna Coles, who will serve as an executive producer on the project, a Cosmo spokesperson confirmed. The news was first reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

Coles, who previously served as editor of Marie Claire magazine and as an American correspondent for the Guardian, has been credited with bringing new life to Cosmopolitan.

In 2014, under her leadership, the magazine won its first National Magazine Award. She is also believed to be on the shortlist of successors to Graydon Carter, editor of Vanity Fair.

The title of the Cosmo series is to be determined, and will be produced by Universal Television and written by Sarah Watson, the former writer of the NBC drama "Parenthood."

Cosmopolitan hasn't provided further details on when the show will be released.
