Relax, Nissan isn't changing their name again - the switch from Datsun was likely a final one. Nismo is short for NISsan MOtorsports, which is Nissan's in-house tuner, like AMG is to Mercedes.
The Nismo 350Z is a racetrack-ready, high-performance version of the familiar Nissan 350Z. The engine remains unchanged - it's still a 3.5-liter V-6 making 306 horsepower, and it transmits its power to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission. More aggressive front and rear fascias are unique to the Nismo Z, along with side skirts, and a rear diffuser and wing.
Nismo fitted gunmetal-gray 18-inch wheels in the front and 19s in the rear, all wrapped in high-performance Bridgestone tires. Inside, the special edition Z has new black and red cloth seats with red stitching and unique gauges.
The Nismo 350Z goes on sale this summer, and we expect production to be quite limited. And to remind passengers just how limited, it will have a serialized aluminum plaque on the center console.
