The Ritz-Carlton Charlotte is vying for most eco-chic business hotel: The LEED Gold-certified facility offers complimentary hybrid-vehicle transportation, its employees wear uniforms made from regenerated plastic-bottle material -- and it's growing 18,000 plants on its roof, in addition to vegetables used in the restaurant, to help reduce "urban heat island effect."
