With that in mind, stores such as Target, J.C. Penney and others are tapping into the growing base of digital consumers by introducing special back to school initiatives that specifically target smartphone users.
For back to school, Target is offering mobile coupon blasts. Sign up for the deals by texting COUPONS to TARGET (827438) and you'll get new mobile coupons every two weeks.
You can also scan barcodes on products in Target stores using the built-in camera on your smartphone to get product details and read reviews.
And if you want to avoid the back to school lines at the cashier, you can use your phone to checkout with your Target.com account.
