His father, Lakshmi, founded the steel giant, but Aditya helped build it -- largely by being opportunistic as head of M&A in the dark days of 2000 and 2001. "The whole industry was going down in flames, and most people who worked with me wanted to leave, because the thinking was, `How's he going to acquire now?' That's when we doubled in size. We picked up a lot of troubled businesses." Then came Arcelor in 2006, making the combined steel company the world's largest.
