Honesty in the details

bentley flying spur

The Bentley Flying Spur is a remarkable car given how much room and comfort it provides along with truly impressive driving performance. But anyone who buys this car is buying it, really, because it's a Bentley.

Does it really matter that you could scour crawl through every inch of the Flying Spur's interior and not find a piece of plastic, let alone cheap ugly plastic? Does it really matter that every inch of that leather is stitched by hand rather than by a giant robotic sewing machine? Does it really matter that body panels are stamped from heated metal to create shapes not otherwise possible?

If you're concerned about how much money you spend on your car, probably not. But that's a large part of the point of buying a Bentley, isn't it? It's "the best," because of an absurd level attention to details that, you would think, could not possibly matter enough for most people to bother paying for them. Like the ability to cruise at 200 mph while sipping chilled wine in the backseat which you can do -- because it's a Bentley.
