One of the most well-known artists of the abstract expressionism movement, Mark Rothko's work was commissioned for many well-known spaces, such as the Four Seasons in New York and Harvard's Holyoke Center.
"Untitled" was not made for a particular venue, and though the buyer remains anonymous, it was made for a space that must be rather large -- this work is over nine feet wide and 14 feet tall.
