Bravo 'Silicon Valley' sets new 'reality' low

dumbest moments 2012 silicon valley

The network that brought us the "Real Housewives" franchise decided to delve into another much-buzzed-about demographic: Silicon Valley's wunderkind entrepreneurs.

Unfortunately, Bravo failed to lure any true rising tech stars to appear on "Start-Ups: Silicon Valley." The biggest name attached to the series was producer Randi Zuckerberg, sister of Facebook CEO Mark. The show's cast of publicists, marketers, and "life-casters" drew universal derision, as did the "settings" for its so-called business scene: pools and nightclubs. TechCrunch editor Alexia Tsotsis described the series in a tweet as "Here Comes Silicon Valley Boo Boo," and Bloomberg Businessweek blasted it as "shallower than a dinner plate"

Viewers were equally turned off: Ratings started off soft and plunged fast. "The Valley's interest in this show is sliding like Groupon stock," declared BeatBeat's show recapper. -- Stacy Cowley
