The new Yahoo CEO has survived her first year on the job -- and she's making her mark by going on a shopping spree.

Yahoo (YHOO) spent $1.1 billion on blogging site Tumblr (promising "not to screw it up), and picked up former news anchor Katie Couric as well as New York Times tech writer David Pogue.
