Meat protein is also becoming more portable with meat bars. "It looks like a protein or granola bar, but it's made out of meat and comes in different flavors," said Kramer.

Food company EPIC has a variety of meat bars on the market, including the chicken sesame BBQ bar that launched in April and the bison bacon cranberry bar.
