The dinner party accomplice

holiday kitchensurfing

Cook up a stress-free dinner party by enlisting the help of a professional chef.

Startup Kitchensurfing lets you find a chef nearby and hire them to cook in your home. They'll even bring over the groceries and teach you their secrets as they work.

For the holidays, customers can choose from hiring a chef to cook a seated, multi-course dinner party (for 6-12 guests, at $100 per person) or a cocktail party with passed hors d'oeurves (15-30 guests at $40 per person).

The Brooklyn-based startup, which has raised $19.5 million since its founding in 2012, recommends submitting a request for a chef as soon as possible because they'll book up fast for the holidays.

Right now, Kitchensurfing is available in eight cities.

For those in San Francisco, there's also newly launched competitor Kitchit.

Or, for those wanting a chef-curated meal (without the chef), try Home Chef. The Chicago-based startup delivers ingredients and recipes to your home. During the holidays, they're offering a Build-Your-Own Holiday Meal for as little as $9.95 per serving.
