Gel for your pets
4 of 6
Pot for pets may sound crazy, but there's a market for it.
Mary's Medicinals has expanded its cannabis products to pets, with a pain-relief gel.
The gel can be used to dull muscular pain or pain tied to arthritis, especially in older dogs.
It doesn't contain THC, the chemical in marijuana that triggers a high. Instead, it's infused with CBD, the non-psychoactive compound in cannabis.
The gel is dispensed through a pen (priced at $40). Each pump provides a 1 mg dose of the gel, which can be applied to a specific area. The pen allows for a total of 50 pumps.
Because it's THC-free, communications head Graham Sorkin said it's available nationwide at independent pet stores. The company is also in talks to get the product into larger chain stores.
