(FORTUNE Magazine) – San Francisco software startup Salesforce.com is legendary, at least among those who have been the beneficiaries of its promotional barrage. As footballs, pens, T-shirts, and invites to see the Dalai Lama poured into the office over the years, we couldn't help but wonder, How much are they spending on this junk? We got our answer in Salesforce.com's mid-December IPO filing: They spend a whopping $33 million--65% of revenues--on sales and marketing.
