Fall Fashion, Apprentice-Style
By Elizabeth Fenner

(FORTUNE Magazine) – Anything fur is hot again, style arbiters proclaim. Tweed is in. Bold colors are good. Stripes, too. But those bits of information don't really help you decide what clothes to choose when projecting a certain image really counts. When you're asking your boss for a raise, for example. Or co-hosting a benefit with your colleagues. Or taking a meeting with, say, Eliot Spitzer. No one knows the power of image better than the hypercompetitive cast of The Apprentice. So we asked the contestants on the second season of Donald Trump's hit reality show, premiering Sept. 9, to don the perfect outfit for eight such occasions. --Elizabeth Fenner

Asking for a raise? Dress as though you don't need the money. Sparkle helps.

When you're about to plead not guilty, choose a winter-white suit. Innocent!

Kudlow and Cramer want you on TV. Make sure your duds are louder than they are.

When you meet the creatives, let loose your inner artist. Think leather.

Justifying your vast pay package to the board? Leave the Versace at home.

When you're hosting a benefit, don't show too much skin. (Fur is another matter.)

The redeye calls for comfy clothes you can wear straight to a client meeting.

Office picnics can be sartorial minefields. Keep it chic and simple, stupid.
