(FORTUNE Magazine) – The Transportation Security Administration will finally launch its long-delayed Registered Traveler Program on June 20. But what originally sounded like a great deal for frequent travelers--submit to a background check, shell out about $100, and skip the madness of airport security--now sounds much less enticing. In late April the TSA issued its official guidelines: Members will still pass through metal detectors and have their luggage screened. And yes, jackets and shoes will have to be removed.
