U-Haul Destination City No. 3: Las Vegas Continues to Develop
PR Newswire
Pro sports venues and a hot job market helped Sin City lure the 3rd highest inflow of moving trucks in 2018

PHOENIX and LAS VEGAS, May 22, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Las Vegas is the No. 3 U.S. Destination City according to the latest U-Haul migration trends report, rising three spots from its ranking on last year's list.

U-Haul is counting down its top 10 U.S. Destination Cities based on the total number of one-way truck arrivals in 2018. Las Vegas ranks No. 3 on the list.

Las Vegas saw a 12% year-over-year increase in one-way U-Haul truck arrivals in 2018 to become one of the top three busiest cities for incoming traffic among do-it-yourself movers.

"Las Vegas is a great place to call home because it has the benefits of a big city without many of the headaches," stated Victor Mesa, U-Haul Company of Las Vegas East president. "We don't have the traffic problems that other big cities do. You can get from one end of the Valley to the other in about 25 minutes. Las Vegas has a low cost of living and the job market is booming again. U-Haul is proud to contribute to this growing community."

U-Haul has 14 Company-owned stores and 51 independent neighborhood dealers currently operating in the Las Vegas city limits. Find U-Haul truck and trailer sharing locations in Las Vegas at uhaul.com/locations.

Moving Season in Las Vegas

U-Haul is counting down its top 10 U.S. Destination Cities as a prelude to Memorial Day weekend, the unofficial start of the summer moving season. About 45% of all moves each year occur between Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends. The No. 1 U.S. Destination City will be announced May 24 on Twitter @uhaul.

"One of the reasons Las Vegas continues to grow is the new professional sports industry that has come to town," Mesa continued. "The Golden Knights almost won the Stanley Cup last year, and the Raiders are getting ready to move here. Building the stadiums has been a huge deal. That has brought people from all over the country. The pro sports expansion shows that Las Vegas isn't a small-time city. We mean business."

Rankings are based by the total number of arriving one-way U-Haul trucks into a city in the past calendar year. Destination Cities reflect the volume and regularity of do-it-yourself movers coming into a city, but do not account for departing one-way U-Haul trucks, and thus do not necessarily reflect growth like U-Haul Growth Cities and Growth States rankings do.

U-Haul released its complete Growth States rankings; its top 25 U.S. Growth Cities; and its top 25 Canadian Growth Cities for 2018 in January.

U-Haul is the authority on migration trends thanks to its expansive network that blankets all 50 states and 10 Canadian provinces.
