Insula, Caudate, and putamen

  If a repeating pattern is broken batches of neurons flare in the insula, caudate and putamen. Like the amygdala, these areas can generate feelings of fear and anxiety. The longer a pattern has previously repeated, the more violently your brain responds when the pattern is broken.
